Respected President,
Today, I read in a Curacao newspaper that a delegation of the Curacao parliament is currently in Quito, Ecuador, attending a Parlatino congress.
To my surprise, I noted that former Curacao prime minister Mr. Gerrit Schotte is part of the Curacao delegation. Mr. Gerrit Schotte was recently sentenced to three years in jail for among others corruption, money laundering and filing a false police report. In addition, he was excluded from taking a seat in the Curacao parliament for a period of 5 years.
For me it is an outrage that the Curacao parliament decided to have itself represented at the Quito, Ecuador Parlatino congress by a convict. However, now that the Curacao parliament has proven to lack even the most basic sense of decency, I kindly request the Parlatino organization to take a stand and strongly disagree with the presence of convicts at its congresses. Mr. Gerrit Schotte should be expelled immediately from your congress and the Curacao parliament should be severely reprimanded for sending convicts to Parlatino gatherings.
The presence of Mr. Gerrit Schotte at the Quito, Ecuador Parlatino congress is an outrage, a shame and gives the Parlatino organization and the island of Curacao a very bad name.
I trust that the Parlatino President will take appropriate actions.
Best regards,

Margret Smeets,
Curaçao
